Erdei Zsolt suffered injury

Two-time boxing world champion Zsolt Erdei has suffered a very unfortunate injury during his sparring session on september 4th. After the incident Erdei Zsolt was examined in Military Hospital's emergency department, and was diagnosed with rib fracture. Because of an ongoing international consultation, Erdei Zsolt and his management decided to talk about the case within a Press Conference later only, neither of the concerned would like to make a statement until there is no exact decision.

Last weekend in Budapest hundreds of Hungarian boxing fans took the chance to bid a personal farewell to Zsolt Erdei, the “Firebird”, the unbeaten two-time world champion. Erdei wished to have a personally goodbye with his friends and fans before leaving Hungary to continue his training in abroad. After this special farewell event Zsolt Erdei left Budapest to start his preparation sessions in Cologne and Hamburg (Germany) for the IBF light heavyweight world championship fight against Tavoris Cloud at Dec. 31st in Anaheim / USA.

Erdei scores fantastic knockout against Byron Mitchell

Zsolt Erdei, former two time world champion (WBO, WBC), has successfully returned to the ring in Atlantic City on June 4 against American Byron Mitchell. This was the second fight of his American contract and under his new promoter of Lou DiBella promoter. In his first encounter he scored a victory by unanimous decision against Samson Onyango in November 2010.

Zsol Erdei weighted in at 78,9 kg while his challenger Byron Mitchell scaled in at 80,kg. Both will meet on Saturday night in ten round light heavyweight bout.

Only two days are left and former two-time world champion Zsolt Erdei will step into the ring against Byron Mitchell in a ten rounder in Atlantic City. In the last days the psychological and mental preparation played a vital role. Therefore the "Firebird" made his easy running intervals and shadow boxing exercises with his trainer Fritz Sdunek on Thursday by the ocean.

Zsolt Erdei celebrates his birthday

Zsolt Erdei’s Thursday morning started memorable, because the team members surprised him with a cake and some gifts from Hungary to celebrate his 37th birthday. Erdei got a postcard, playing the Rocky-hymn, a 2010 Camaro auto model and a fruit cake. The cake was the first „sweet sin” in his last 19 weeks. A Hungarian music band, Heaven Street Seven, sent an album with a dedication and a birthday wish because they know that Zsolt is their fan. Zoltán Orlik (who is the founder of the Zsolt Erdei fishing friend club in Mende city) and József Kaszanyi, the mayor of Mende, surprised him with a group photo about the charity fishing race, where the boxer couldn’t take part because of his preparation.

First day in Atlantic City

Two-time world championZsolt Erdei has arrived in Atlantic City on Monday to start the last week of his 20 weeks preparation for the fight against Byron Mitchell on next Saturday. Erdei was transported with an elegant white stretch limousine to his new headquarter at the Caesars Palace Hotel. The Caesars Palace is in direct connection with Bally’s Hotel, where Erdei makes his training with Fritz Sdunek. In the evening they continued the preparation with a training session before ending the day with a long walk.

Erdei’s free weekend program

Zsolt Erdei went through a very hard working final training week, with two intense training sessions per day, so he got two days off to relax on his last weekend in Philadelphia. On Saturday he visited the Philadelphia Zoo, which is the first zoo in the US history, while on Sunday the Team Erdei took a long walk by visiting the famous „Rocky Steps” and the Liberty Bell. The complete team is going to travel to Atlantic City on Monday.
